This course will introduce you to resources and provide basic training for local pastors and worship leaders that have an interest in incorporating more technology in the pulpit. Amid worship challenges due to the pandemic, many services are currently being held remotely. This class will focus on utilizing technology to reach your congregation right now. It will also guide you in selecting and researching the best options for inexpensive technology and online options projectors and projector screens to streaming service live on Facebook. This workshop will be a great session to help gain tips to have congregants more visually engaged during service.
Patricia Commander is a self-published author and life-long learner. She graduated from Winston-Salem State University with her Bachelor’s degree in English, from UNCG with her Master in Library and Information Studies, and is currently working on her Master in Divinity here at Hood Theological Seminary (HTS). She is currently HTS’s Library Director and Writing Center Coordinator. Patricia also teaches Writing in Theological Disciplines and co-teachers Introduction to Theological Studies. With countless training sessions and private consultations under her belt, Patricia teaches in various ways that reach a number of students that each have their own learning styles. While still learning about new resources and using new and creative strategies of instruction, her interactions help to bring understanding to all things writing and technology-focused, not only to students but to herself as well. Patricia has also had the blessed opportunity to act as a supply pastor for a small, local congregation for a short time from August of 2017 to March of 2018.
Required Materials: A laptop or desktop computer. Your ideas and creativity. This is a hands-on workshop where you will be using the internet to gather materials to enhance your church worship experience.
