Continuing Education: The American Church and Social Justice

Instructor: GeoRene Jones (Clergy, ECLA). Objective: Explore the potential for Christian ministry in the arena of social justice in the American context and experience. Specific attention will be given to the role of prophetic witness through faith-led public policy advocacy. Participants will explore the public policy efforts of their own faith tradition and learn to connect with their (or other) church offices and sponsored agencies offering opportunities for public witness. This class has pre-reading: Toxic Charity: How Churches and Charities Hurt Those They Help, And How to Reverse It by Robert D. Lupton. The cost of the book is $10.00.
