This course will explore the experiences of clergy families within the context of marriage, family and ministry. A discussion will include role expectations, social support and spiritual disciplines.

Clergy and laity, whether married or single, will examine components of the clergy family’s experience–family life, ministry roles and involvement, congregational boundaries (or lack thereof), and relationship challenges to identify and understand areas of conflict and stressors associated with the clergy family and ministry. Chapters 5 and 9 from the book entitled, The Hidden World of the Pastor: Case Studies on Personal Issues of Real Pastors by Kenneth L. Swetland will be discussed.
